Ray Naylor - Band Bio
I got started in music with Ron Denny (Engine11) in the late 70's as a drummer and found that drums really wasn't for me so I went to guitar and realized I was better at that than drums. When I moved out of Philadelphia I traveled back and forth on weekends to play when I could. Then I figured while listening to Rush to try playing bass and the first song I played was Tom Sawyer and low and behold I liked playing bass more than I did guitar so I stuck with it.
In late 1983 my younger brother came to me and said he knew someone who sings in a band and they need a bassplayer, so I met him and went to audition and was taken in and became a 4 piece original band called TEMPEST RISK. But shortly after the singer left and turned out ot be a 3 piece for a while. In later years we recruited another guitar and keyboard who also played trumpet and sax and took on a singer and became a 6 piece working cover band BREAKAWAY and did rather well.
After our breakup in the early 90's I got into the fire service and Bill Barnett became an E.M.T.
I got married in '96 and stopped playin for a while. Then in Dec,2003 lost my wife to a bad car accident. In June 2004 Bill called and told he was forming another band and asked if I was interested in playing again and I jumped at the opportunity. (see photos at my main page)
And at the same time doing collabs with Ron.
